The "Woody"  is the first of Silver Star's  resophonic banjos.  It features an all steel pot with a Beard brand resonator cone and maple biscuit.  The reclaimed neck is fitted with a tension rod and attached to the underside of the sound chamber.  The cover plate is ordained with the words "THIS MACHINE KILLS FASCISTS", a cultural reference from the great Woody Guthrie.

 

The tones and character of the Woody are haunting and sensual.  Some notes seem to resonate forever while others seem to bend on their own.  String thickness effects the tension on the cone and therefore the volume.
